School Games Athletics Final a success
Representatives from 5 Northumberland School Sport Areas
gathered at Ashington Leisure Centre to compete in the School Games
Indoor Athletics Final in January.
Organised by Northumberland Athletics Network,
the event was part of the Fun in Athletics programme which provides
an exciting introduction to Athletics competition for young
people. A number of qualification heats took place before the
final which involved 380 young participants.
A range of partners were involved including
Northumberland School Games Organising Committee, England
Athletics, Sportshall Associates, BVAL, local Athletics clubs and
volunteers.
Winning schools were Chantry Middle School
(U11 mixed, U12 boys & girls), Cramlington Learning Village
(U13 boys) and Ovingham Middle School (U13 girls). Winners of
U12 and U13 events will now compete in the North East Regional
School Games Final in February.
