What is the BVAL Challenge?
In this Olympic year, Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure are
proud to introduce the BVAL Challenge - designed to encourage you
to take part in a personal or a team fitness
challenge.
You can choose your own activity or fitness challenge and take part
for whatever reason you like - whether it's to get fit, raise money
for charity or just for fun - it's entirely up to you!
Who can take part?
EVERYONE! You, your family, friends and colleagues can
register to take part in an individual challenge or a team
challenge. There are no age limitations.
Ideas for your BVAL Challenge
Your BVAL challenge will be unique. You might use
it as a way to do activities together as a family or a group or
friends, or maybe there is a challenge you'd like to train for
such as the Great North Run or the Coast to Coast bike ride. The
BVAL Challenge brochure has a few other ideas, but you can be as
creative as you like - this is YOUR challenge!
Some of our staff have already decided to take part in
the BVAL Challenge. Here's what 3 of them are
doing...
Nicola Auld - Fitness Instructor
Nicola is
planning to climb Ben Nevis! She will be putting together a
training programme in the lead up to this big challenge to help her
get to the top!
Lisa Scott - Marketing Manager
Lisa and
her family all play cricket and their BVAL Challenge is to score
500 match runs this season between them. (Lisa is practising hard
in the nets because she wants to contribute as many of those runs
as possible!!)
Coral Hanson - Health & Fitness
Manager
Coral and her family are planning to
cycle 2012 miles in 2012...that's EACH not a combined total!...
When can I start?
The sooner the better! The BVAL Challenge will be
running throughout the whole of 2012. Challenges must be completed
by the end of the year.
How do I record the progress of my BVAL Challenge?
You can use our FREE online Fitlinxx or Wellness service (we'll
show you how to do this when you register) OR, you can
manually record your progress on a BVAL Challenge
logsheet.
How do I register to take part in the BVAL
Challenge?
Once you've decided the details of your BVAL Challenge,
you should complete a registration form. You can download
your own copy of the registration form, or you'll find one in
the BVAL Challenge leaflet available from any of the centres. Once
complete, just hand your registration form in to any centre, and
we'll give you an information pack offering tips on how to prepare
for your challenge.
WIN A Year's FREE Lifestyle membership!
Everyone who completes their BVAL Challenge will be
entered into a prize draw to win a year's FREE Lifestyle
membership!
BVAL Challenge... in a Day
Alongside the BVAL Challenge, there will be 3 BVAL
Challenge Days:
Saturday 24th March 2012
Saturday 16th June 2012
Saturday 8th September 2012
On each challenge day, there will be two different challenges - one
to be completed in the gym/pool and the other to be completed as a
fitness class. Each participant will be asked to make a £5 donation
to charity to take part in these events.
Details of each challenge day will be available nearer
the time. If you have already registered to take part in the BVAL
Challenge, we will send details to you via
email.
